| Description: | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact: Sarah Heid Friday, August 20, 2010 434-962-1000 Jackie Bright 434-409-0453 MIDTOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE WEST MAIN FOR 1ST ANNUAL MIDTOWN STREET FAIR Charlottesville â The Midtown Business Association announces the 1st Annual Midtown Street Fair to be held Saturday, September 11th from 12 noon to 5 pm, on West Main Street between 4th and 7th Streets. The first of its kind, this event is sure to become an integral part of our local social landscape, building community and showcasing West Main Street as an important commercial center for Charlottesville. Participants will enjoy live music from local favorites We Are Star Children (formally Straight Punch to the Crotch), Mr. Baby, Panther Burn, and Downbeat Project, plus a variety of locally inspired entertainment such as salsa dancing, face painting, and a vintage bike show â including a penny farthing! Also featured will be a Midtown restaurant BBQ Cook-Off, a Waiter Olympics competition (open to all Charlottesville servers), as well as a variety of artisan and food vendors selling local products. Space is currently available to exhibitors and vendors â i.e. retailers, artists, nonprofits, food, and craft vendors. If you would like to be a vendor at the Midtown Street Fair 2010, please contact Laura Galgano at lalagalgano@comcast.net. Vendor registrations must be received by Wednesday, September 1st, 2010. The Midtown Business Association has been established to support entrepreneurship and positive urban development in the West Main corridor.
