Description: Introduction
ArtAwards began as a collection of artists who wanted to have one or more winter Mid-Atlantic art shows made up of high quality artists (which also may include fine crafts made by the artisan showing). Surveys showed that many top quality artists agreed. The show basically features artists who have previously won awards at art shows, or who are emerging artists of high caliber. Unlike other
shows, we encourage artists to display their awards and ribbons.

Because the shows take place in a non-traditional calendar period for the locations, much emphasis is placed on promotion to the art buying audiences, so that the right people are informed about the shows. The primary purpose of gathering a large collection of artists
in a professional show setting is to pool funds for this promotion effort. At the same time, every effort has been made to keep fees reasonable.

Optional electricity and services from the convention center (such as rental drapes, tables, etc.), must be arranged separately; details will be provided (example – not required – an advance order for 2000 watts of electric service at your booth is $85). “No Shows” will forfeit all fees and will not be eligible for future participation.

Category
For show balance the number of acceptances in each category will be limited, so if your work is not accepted it may simply be that the category is full for this year. If this is the case we will be happy to place you on the wait list as cancellations can occur. There will
also be awards in at least the major categories. Please specify the category you are applying for (must match your pictures), such as: fiber, glass, handmade jewelry, leather, mixed media, pencil/pen/ink, painting, photography, pottery/clay, ceramics, printmaking/paper, sculpture, wood, other (specify). Categories not accepted include shell art, dried flowers, puppets, soap art,
feathers, items made from kits, and manufactured items.

Images
Submit three images of your recent work and one of your booth display. Slides or prints which you want returned must be marked with your name and be accompanied by return envelope with correct postage. (On slides, please clearly mark "top"). Images in standard 1920x1920 format may also be emailed using the naming format of yournameimage1,
yournameimage2, etc. Please also either mail or email for each image a description, materials used, and retail price.

Awards Won
The show is emphasizing awards won as a marketing technique to entice art buyers as well as high caliber artists. Unlike other shows, we want you to display your past award(s) or a list of same. If you have not won awards you will automatically be placed in the Emerging Artists segment of the show. The show will also accept a limited amount of fine craft, which must meet standards of uniqueness and appeal (the artisan must be present). Please list on the return page (or attach a separate sheet of) a sampling of awards you have won, including year and show: There is no minimum number of awards for acceptance.

Show Rules
Complete show rules and information on security, parking, etc. will be shown on the website and in the accepted Exhibitor packet. The major rules that you need to know about before applying are:

The artist must be present for the duration of the show. Assistants are welcome, but not as replacements .

Work at the show must conform to the application and images or you will be asked to leave.

The ArtAwards Committee reserves the right to remove any work from the show that does not meet its standards.

All displayed work must be for sale. No special sale or clearance signs permitted.

Work must be confined to the assigned space; booth must be kept clean and in order.

Taxes are the responsibility of the artist. (Sales tax charts will be provided)

Exhibitors must be 18 or older.

Show Awards
Since we need to maximize the amount of fees going into the Promotion budget, the amount of cash awards for the show will depend on our Sponsors, but we have expectations of numerous awards – we will have a crew with the sole esponsibility of signing up Sponsors (who will also be tapped for publicity). Watch the website for details as they become available. Each accepted Exhibitor will also receive an ArtAwards 2010 ribbon as an indicator of having met the quality required for jurying (we want you to display this
ribbon also!).

Demonstrations
As space permits, we hope to have some artists demonstrate their work, and we will provide extra floor space for this at no additional charge. If you can participate, please email us and describe your demo. If you have video of the same, we could also use clips in our television spots and promos.

Co-op Effort
We’d like to remind you that ArtAwards is a cooperative effort started, organized, and run by artists. Our Show Committee has many decades of experience with art shows and knows how the best shows are configured and created. But in the end, it takes the cooperation of all the participants. If you can help us with photos, staffing, contacts, publicity, facilities, future venues, purchases,
artist amenities, etc., please let us know.
